Net Zero Footprints Conference 2023: a successful bet for Global Cynergies

Get out of our comfort zone and find sustainable solutions to stop the suffering of the planet we live on; this is the watchword of all the speakers of the speakers at the first edition of Net Zero Footprints Conference which was held at the Labourdonnais hotel at the Caudan Waterfront, on Thursday March 16, 2023. The initiative goes to Global Cynergies Worldwide, whose franchise is held in Mauritius by Reshmee Chamroo, who handles the Africa and neighboring countries portfolio and who is also the founder of Ideas For Us Ltd, a non-profit organization that works for sustainable development in Mauritius.

The Minister of Environment, Solid Waste Management and Climate Change, Kavydass Ramano, The kick-off was given by Sarita Meeheelau, from the Ministry of the Environment with a presentation on the prospects of the situation in Mauritius based on facts and figures. There are programs that stakeholders can take advantage of and feed into to improve their supply chains. During his speech, the Minister of the Environment. Kavydass Ramano, explained that this conference reflects the partnership and collaborative efforts between the public sector, private sector and civil society to achieve the target set on our Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) 2021 updates.“No one can deny that climate change is happening at an alarming rate, bringing more devastating effects around the world, but more so in vulnerable countries like Mauritius. The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Carbon Emissions Gap Report 2022 reveals that global commitments updated since COP26 in 2021 make only a negligible difference to greenhouse gas emissions. predicted greenhouse by 2030. This means that the policies currently in place are not sufficient to limit the temperature increase to 1.5 degrees Celsius by 2030”.

In addition, the organizer of this event, Reshmee Chamroo, wanted to point out that “Climate change is a global emergency that transcends national borders. It is a problem that requires international cooperation and coordinated solutions at all levels. To combat climate change and its negative effects, world leaders meeting in Paris at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) reached a breakthrough on December 12, 2015: the historic Paris Agreement. Thus, the 'Net Zero footprints 2023' conference is a platform that was launched in order to bring together partners from various sectors to engage in the process of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to a level as close as possible to zero, with the remaining emissions being reabsorbed from the atmosphere, by the oceans and forests, for example. Currently, Earth is already about 1.1°C warmer than it was in the late 1800s, and emissions continue to rise. To limit global warming to 1.5°C, as set out in the Paris Agreement, emissions must be reduced by 45% by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050”. “The conference was very informative about net zero footprint and how each stakeholder contributed solutions, suggestions, information and data that allow us to move forward and work on the basis of a higher progression. important towards the net zero footprint" , confided the director of Global Cynergies Mauritius.
